Gah! It’s finally over. I can fall back and relax…

daylight savingsTwo little angels, side by side in their room sleeping with the sun, is definitely a parenting success for me.
I strive to give them 12 hours sleep each night but with extended summer nights and the early morning schedules we run, there has been no time for me!  Which mother of two children under three years old actually likes daylight savings! Not me that’s for sure. We changed our clocks today and tonight is the first early night I have had for what feels like forever and am loving it.  Both were in bed and asleep by 6:30pm, yep it’s not a typo, 6:30pm!

We live by the sun in this household. Sun up – we are awake, sun down – we sleep…. isn’t that the normal body clock? The bedtime song I sing probably helps too, it’s the Goodnight song from Didi and B and, luckily, I still remember the words and it works a treat.  I just use the boys names instead of Didi and B’s. We LOVE it 🙂

Writing this just had he me reminiscing and finding a link to share…

Inspiration through ‘Children’s Educational and Social Post Swap’ group on Facebook

This month has been the most inspirational month I have had for years!!!

MY SON
This is MY SON, thrilled to bits about sharing mail with new friends through Children’s Educational and Social Post Swap Group on Facebook.

There is no easier way to collect and prepare resources for homeschooling our Children.
After almost 4 years of planning with my small family I decided to start swapping mail and have pen friends for my toddler with other crafty Mums! One thing led to another and now we have a new Facebook group swapping letters, crafts and activities among children.  Many skills are being practiced at all ages; and resourceful materials shared.
They are having the educational experience of a lifetime!
I hope the group grows in numbers so there are more ideas and resources shared through the mail for Mums like me staying at home raising children.

We have big hopes, dreams and plans….

Curriculum or fly by the seat of my pants!

Looking through the plethora of homeschool information leaves me motivatedIMG_7003
every time. It is time to begin a structured curriculum for homeschooling.
Well, semi-structured realistically!!!

The ‘big boy’ takes me by the hand to lead me somewhere that he has already thought through. “Come” he says “I have something to show you” he leads me to his toys and gives me that gorgeous grin as he sits down and says “play”  or points up high to a top shelf where he has eyed a new activity that is awaiting his absorbent little mind……

I tried to teach my child from books
He gave me only puzzled looks
I tried to teach my child with words
He didn’t want to listen unheard
Despairingly I turned aside
How shall I teach this child I cried
Into my hand he put the key
Come, he said
play with me!!!

no catch-up… just keep moving forward

Has it been an entire year since I created this blog and have only one post?!
Apparently so because when I logged on I was congratulated!

The past twelve months certainly have been demanding, but above all very rewarding.  I promised myself no catch up with blogging about the past, and to move forward from this point in time, right here – right now.

Yeah right! I can’t help myself! Though I can limit myself to one blog post only….

I am amazed at how quickly the time has passed and yet, have memories that feel like I’ve lived a decade with my two boys in only one year.  Neil is now two and a half years old and we celebrated Nik’s first birthday just last week!  The clock has been good to this family and will be able to share many joyful ‘and stressful’ stories about the first years of life with my children and experiences of motherhood.   There is so much I want to say and dozens of pictures to share but will hold back and express the abundance of love in my life for future  publications.

on the wrong blog

Here I am on the wrong blog. I was logging in to work on my assessment blog but instead I find myself here. Maybe I need some relief? some time-out… It has been such a busy three months for me. My new sweetheart will be four months old soon and all I can think about is him when I need to be thinking about course content. Little Nik has been by my side the entire time, gees’ we are lucky for mobile technology. My laptop travels between rooms catering to the needs of my son, not me! And that’s fine, in fact, its great! We both get what we want. There is one little fella who is not getting what he wants though, and I am starting to feel withdrawn from my family. What I do miss the most now is spending time with my almost two-year old son.  His dad has been helping out so much, and getting him out of the house.

But it’s not enough.

He misses his mummy and I can see the joy in his eyes when I turn the computer off, put the baby to sleep and reach out for him.  The expression on his face is priceless – he knows its mummy fun time! Despite my social absence, I am a sensible mum. I’m a very caring mum. And that is why I withdrew from three subjects I enrolled in at the time of enrolling in this current subject; Teaching in the Digital Age.  I love the unit of study I’m doing, the value I have gained is unmeasurable.  The end date is nearing and course content is going to keep my busy for a long time after completion.  I will re-assess the time I have to study in a couple of months and will probably do two units per year. I’m not in a race to get back into the workforce so I will prioritize logically. In hindsight, I couldn’t have picked a better unit of study to set me on the right path to begin my homeschooling journey.
